The Star Wars 9500 Sith Fury-Class Interceptor is a 748 piece set that includes one Sith Fury-Class Interceptor and three mini figures; the Dark Sith Lord Darth Malgus and 2 Sith Troopers. While both Sith Troopers come equipped with blaster guns, Darth Malgus has his instantly recognizable red lightsaber. The Lego Star Wars Sith Fury-Class Interceptor is a tremendous toy. With almost 750 pieces, this is quite a complicated build, and definitely not one for younger children. Older children that aren’t ardent fans of Star Wars may not be aware who Darth Malgus is, but those who are will be delighted to own such a revered character. Although non fans will have great fun building the Interceptor ship and subsequently playing with the functional finished article, this really is a set aimed specifically at the Star Wars fans and collectors.

The Sith Fury-Class Interceptor Lego set comes close enough to the $100 mark, so this is far from a bargain set. What drives the price up is the exclusivity of the piece, and the quality of the final piece. This is a functional toy, although most buyers are more likely to place it on display than use it for play.

If you or your children are big Star Wars fans, then the Sith Fury-Class Interceptor set will be a great addition to the collection. Extremely functional for play, and exclusive enough for collections, this is a set that, while not for everyone, will be extremely rewarding for most buyers.

Is the Lego Police Station Worth Buying?

What makes the Lego Police Station really stand out is the absolute level of detail and care that has gone into every aspect of this set, while at no point neglecting the target audience – young children. The Police Station itself is extremely detailed, featuring a command control centre with computers, an evidence room, a mug shot area and a helicopter landing pad. The police car and police van are nicely put together for play, while accessories like the wanted poster and police dog allow children to really put their imaginations to work and get involved in a story.

The set employs a modular building style, which is ideal for younger children and those not very experienced with difficult or complicated builds.

There are very few downsides to this piece, although it should be noted that although there is a helicopter landing pad, there is no helicopter. Coming in around the $80 mark, this is far from a cheap Lego set, but with 700+ pieces it really is a standalone set that can be played with without the need for any other toys.

Obviously, any existing Lego sets will fit in nicely with the Police Station, as what imaginative play time doesn’t at some point involve the police! This Lego Police Station is probably not what the hard core collector is looking for, but for children, it’s very hard to beat.

Lego Ninjago Samurai Mech

Lego’s Ninjago series has seen a huge response to recent releases, and the Ninjago Samurai Mech issue 9448 is no different. This is a reasonably large set for the Ninjago series, with 452 pieces and 3 mini figures.

The story behind the set is that Samurai X has located the Constrictai fang blade, and is going to collect it aboard the towering Samurai Mech when an ambush is sprung by Snike and Bytar. Armed with an operational catapult, Snike and Bytar attack the huge Samurai Mech, and Samurai X has to defend himself using the massive sword and shoulder cannon.

The Samurai Mech piece is actually quite pliable, and although some of the very small connections may come loose during rough play, it holds up quite well overall, and in many ways seems designed for play and not for the shelf. As one of the few sets to include Samurai X, and the only one so far to include Snike, this is something of a collector’s item.

Is the Lego Ninjago Samurai Mech Worth Buying?

Lego state that the Ninjago 9448 Samurai Mech set is suitable for ages 6 – 14, but as with most Lego series, the Ninjago series has a long list of adult followers and collectors. Fortunately, Lego seem to have put this Samurai Mech together with both parties in mind. Children will be delighted that after their hard work constructing the Mech, they can actually play with it as well. On the other hand, collectors will be glad to find a set that not only includes Samurai X, but the elusive Snike. This makes the set much more desirable. The Samurai Mech can be posed in many different positions, and the limbs and joints are clearly designed for play.

At around the $40 mark, this is far from one of the cheapest Lego Ninjago sets available, but it’s not the most expensive either. As an introduction to the Ninjago series, this is perhaps not the best choice as there are other more affordable sets that can be used to test the water. However, for any fans of Lego or of Ninjago, this is a great set to own. Many of the pieces used to make the Samurai Mech are quite rare, and as such are a great addition to any Lego parts collectors.

The Mech itself is enjoyable to build, and it really looks fantastic when completed. Overall this Ninjago 9448 Samurai Mech set probably isn’t the best choice for someone new to Lego, but for fans it’s somewhat of a must have.

Once assembled, some Lego models can be a bit vulnerable to falling apart. Fortunately, this model is pretty sturdily designed even with the moveable wings. Your kids don’t have to be ultra-careful when playing with Jay’s Storm Fighter.

The final major thing to mention is that Lego has an educational aspect to it, regardless of the specific design of the toy. The building required of all Lego models helps kids to develop a variety of skills such as spatial awareness, memory and problem solving.

On the whole there is basically nothing to criticize about this toy. And with the combination of ninjas and dogfighting jet planes, there’s hardly a child alive that won’t be taken in by this imaginary world. Don’t hesitate to buy as your child is sure to love this toy!

However, if your child is a fan of building with Lego bricks, then this toy is almost certainly going to be welcome, even if it doesn’t live up to adult expectations. On top of that, Lego is a very durable toy that’s sure to stay with your kids throughout their childhoods and possibly even onto the next generation’s childhoods.

The real benefit of this Lego set is the ability to use the pieces to compliment other Lego sets. Either through additional construction, or simply being used fully made in conjunction with other Lord of The Rings sets and scenes, the Hobbit Attack on Weathertop is a lovely little Lego set that will delight fans of both the toy and the literature. Although perhaps a little over-priced, there is no doubting the quality of the set as a whole.
